Two undergraduate sections in the College of Education and Human Services' Integrating Technology in the Classroom course joined members of the Instructional Design Team in Space 154 on Thursday March 21, 2019. Professor Martinelli's class of 23 experienced new technologies such as the Chroma key wall, Google cardboard, virtual reality, Raspberry Pi and coding using Sphero robots.
“Space 154 was a great experience where we learned a lot about the different opportunities provided to us through technology," said Kaylee Qualteria, a freshman elementary education and teaching major. "I’m looking forward to using what I have learned at space 154 in my future classroom.”
Melissa Alexis, an education and speech pathology major, said " Space 154 was so fun! I can really see how these technologies can be applied to my field."
Student Sarah Adam said “having the opportunity to learn about various interactive and innovative technologies at Space 154 was an incredible experience. The professionals were very helpful, and I learned how to enhance new technologies in my future classroom. This knowledge is critical because of our highly technological and advancing society.”
"Being able to go to Space 154 as a supplement for class was a really cool experience. It was awesome to see all of the tools that Seton Hall has to offer that most students aren't even aware off. It complemented the course well and introduced us to tools like the smart board that we could use in the classroom as well as tools they had that were just fun to use and play around with", said Stephen Campana
Space154 is a collaborative place where faculty, students, and the Seton Hall community can come to participate in a variety of experiences. Part learning space, part digital creation space, and part discovery lab, it is a dedicated space on the ground floor of Walsh Library with flexible and café-style workspaces for teams or single users. It features technologies including a 3D printer and Autodesk software, Arduino and Raspberry Pi kits, and text mining/analysis software.
