Professor Serrano began working as a registered nurse in 1984 in the Philippines. She has worked at the Philippine General Hospital in the Philippines and Trinitas Hospital here in New Jersey. Professor Serrano traveled with a group of students from Seton Hall to the Philippines in 2011 to explore community health nursing in urban and rural settings in collaboration with the University of Philippines. She received her B.S.N. from the University of Northern Philippines before receiving her M.S.N. from Kean University. Professor Serrano has been teaching at Seton Hall since 2005, primarily in Health Assessment, Synthesis and Adult Nursing. She also has taught at the Trinitas School of Nursing in Elizabeth, N.J. Her clinical areas of expertise include medical-surgical, critical care, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal nursing. She has undergone Community Emergency Response, or emergency preparedness, training here at Seton Hall University.
