My principal fields are American poetry, postcolonial studies, and literary theory. I am the author of Mastery’s End: Travel and Postwar American Poetry (University of Georgia Press 2005) and of many articles on American and Latin American literature. My poetry has appeared in the American Poetry Review, The Atlantic, Yale Review, PN Review, Notre Dame Review, Lana Turner Review, and other periodicals. I am also the English translator of Rodrigo Rey Rosa’s novels The African Shore (Yale University Press 2014) and Chaos, a Fable (Amazon Crossing 2018), and editor or co-editor of several anthologies, including The News from Poems: Essays on the New American Poetry of Engagement (University of Michigan Press, 2016) and The New American Poetry of Engagement: A 21st Century Anthology (McFarland, 2013).
