Dag Gabrielsen's music has been broadcast on The Learning Channel, The Sundance Channel, HBO, BBC and TCM. His pocket opera All Three Acts of a Sad Play Performed Entirely in Bed premiered with New York City Opera at VOX 2011. In 2012 ESOPUS Magazine commissioned him to compose and record the electroacoustic work The ELIZA Effect for solo soprano which appeared in Issue No. 19. His collaborative dance-on-film project 1, 2, 3 screened at the American Dance Festival and was distributed on DVD in 2015. 8 Strings & A Whistle performed his monodrama Food at the Queens Festival of New Music in 2014 and his contrabass quartet 4/4 received its world premiere at the International Society of Bassists Convention in 2015. He has also written, produced and edited scores and cues for several independent films, including Mysterious Skin (Sundance Film Festival).
His production credits include audio engineering, editing and mastering for Jive Records, Capitol Records and Soul Note Records, audio production for WGBH Radio, Antidote Films, Desperate Pictures, Next Wednesday Productions and Jimmy Productions, marketing and product management for Sony Music and both choral and orchestral arranging for The Metropolitan Opera's Met in Schools program. Dag Gabrielsen has been the recipient of grants and awards from ASCAP, Meet the Composer, International Society of Bassists and The Virgil Thomson Foundation. His Pocket Concerto for Bb Clarinet, commissioned by Vandoren SAS, will be premiered at the 2016 Vandoren Emerging Artists Competition.
