For students seeking a travel experience that is both intellectual and exotic, Seton Hall offers a variety of study abroad options. You can take in modern languages, business, diplomacy, Catholic studies, literature, history, theater, and classical studies, all taught in some of the most inspiring locations across the globe.

Trips range from one week to one month. Students may earn up to nine credits. Some courses fulfill core or honors requirements. And to help make these amazing experiences more affordable, Seton Hall offers a 25% tuition discount on summer programs and on spring courses taken by graduate students! Spring courses taken by undergraduate students will be covered under flat-rate tuition.

A course designed to combine a cultural, historical and contemporary economic perspective of Brazil, with an emphasis on Rio de Janeiro. Students will be exposed to Brazilian business and the economy as well as questions related to human rights, catholic social teaching, and environmental rights. The course will be a combination of readings, lectures, site visits and interaction with business and industry as well as government officials.

Students at oratory of Saint Barbara 320 picCome and explore the ancient and awesome Assisi, Siena, Mozzagrogna, Lanciano, Chieti, San Giovanni Rottondo (Padre Pio), Manoppello, Loreto, Orvieto and Rome! This is faculty-led, 3-credit course/study abroad trip will take place from March 7th to March 18th, 2019. This course will examine Italy's spiritual contributions primarily through key figures women and men and the influence they have had upon the spiritual, artistic and cultural growth of world Christianity. The topic is imminently connected with the mission of the Catholic Studies program. It enhances and extends the classroom curriculum by providing unique on-site, hands-on experience to our students.

ETHIOPIA: Addis Ababa

This course focuses on the AU's role in conflict resolution in Africa. Through a study trip to the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), students will explore and interrogate the theories and practice of conflict resolution, with particular reference to the AU and the various NGOs involved in peace and development. Students will also make a cultural and educational tour of Addis Ababa, home of the first humanoid known as "LUCY" or "DINKNESH;" Axum, reputed to be home of the Arc of the Covenant and also the site of largest obelisks in the world; Lalibela, home of the Rock-Hewn Churches (and aptly described as the 8th Wonder of the World); and Gondar, home of emperors and their castles.

Students at Summer Palace in Beijing 320 pic By exploring China's culture, history, politics, and foreign relations, students will gain a better and more complete understanding of the challenges and opportunities brought by the rise of China. This course culminates in a 9-day field trip to China in Spring 2019. It involves onsite visits, as well as interactions and interviews with diplomats, government officials, business leaders, students and ordinary Chinese. Students will visit Great Wall and the Forbidden City in Beijing and take the 200 mph express train to visit the southern ancient capital Nanjing, and Shanghai, the new global financial hub.

Cliffs in Ireland 320 picMany Seton Hall students reconnect with family roots on this beautiful trip, which includes guided tours of Dublin: Grafton Street, Temple Bar, O'Connell Street, St. Stephen's Green, Phoenix Park. See the Book of Kells at Trinity College, visit St. Patrick's Cathedral, the W.B. Yeats exhibit at National Library, and the bog bodies exhibit at the National Museum. Hear live music and poetry readings in Cork, visit Blarney castle and kiss the Blarney Stone; shop at the Blarney Woolen Mills, then take a bus tour of Killarney National Park and see the breath-taking coastal views of Ring of Kerry. Other sites may include the Kerry Bog Village museum, the Kissane Sheep Farm, Daniel O'Connell's home and museum, the medieval Rock of Cashel. Return to Dublin for historian Lorcan Collins' Easter 1916 Rebellion Walking Tour, a visit to the Guinness brewery, the Dublin Writers museum, and a live theatre performance. Plans this year may include an additional visit to Galway and the Cliffs of Moher.

ITALY: Summer Study Abroad in Rome
Rome
May 31 - June 29, 2019

The Seton Hall Summer program in Rome offers students a unique opportunity to experience the life of Rome and to learn about the culture of Italy. The program runs for four weeks. Students will take two three-credit courses, one of which will be taught by the director of the program, Dr. Gabriella Romani. Classes are held in the morning and early afternoon in the very heart of the city near Navona Square, from where students can easily walk to all main historical sites of the city. Courses are tailored for students to take advantage of the location and gain a true full-immersion experience in the language and culture of Italy. Students live with local Italian families and experience first hand the Italian life-style.

There will be guided tours of the city and visits to the main sites, such as the Colosseum, the Vatican Church and Museum, and the Trevi Fountain. In addition, there will be a weekend excursion to Siena.

Seton Hall University and Sophia University in Tokyo have exchanged students for the past 30 years as part of our SHU agreement to broaden and deepen the understanding between the two countries. Students are given the chance to meet Japanese people and learn firsthand about their language, society, economy, business, culture, religion, history, and literatures. The program includes numerous field trips within Japan.

The United Nations Intensive Summer Study Program immerses participants in the political dynamics of the United Nations. It is designed for advanced undergraduate and graduate students who will attend official sessions at United Nations headquarters as well as briefings at the United Nations Foundation. The course is designed to familiarize students with the inner workings of the United Nations by bringing them together with distinguished practitioners working in the field of multilateral diplomacy. The program is structured around a series of seminars led by U.N. officials and representatives of governments and civil society on a wide range of global issues currently on the U.N. agenda.
