Students can participate in a first-ever yoga experience at the Third Annual Mind Body Spirit Fest on the University Green from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1. Helping to minimize student stress before finals will be a family of goats, their goatherder and a professional yoga instructor from What a View Farm in Hillsborough Township.
Mindfulness activities, relaxation techniques and taking selfies with the goats are among the many available activities that will be offered. Organized by Health Services along with Campus Ministry, Athletics' Recreational Services Department and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the day will feature taking a holistic approach towards student health and wellness as well as offering raffles and giveaways.
"Goat yoga has been increasing in popularity and we felt this experience would be a great way to connect with our students. At this time of year when students are going into finals, we want to offer tips on how a holistic approach towards health can encourage overall wellness. Connecting with nature and engaging in exercise is an example of a practical idea for achieving real life balance," explained Diane Lynch, Director of Health Services. If the weather does not permit outside programming, the event will move to the Main Lounge in the University Center.
