Each year, Managed Healthcare Executive selects 10 individuals from across the healthcare industry as their Top 10 Up-And-Coming Leaders in Healthcare. This year, a Seton Hall alumna Catherine Turbett '13 made the list. Having earned a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) degree, Turbett now works to improve performance in her company's health plans and ACOs. She currently serves as the Executive Director of National Performance Operations at Steward Health Care Network in Dallas, TX.
Catherine Turbett's personal experiences navigating the healthcare system over the years coupled with her professional experience as the operations manager at a physical therapy practice led her to explore the many ways one can impact healthcare delivery. She decided to earn a Master of Healthcare Administration at SHU choosing the online format.
Continuing on in her career, Turbett has been instrumental in improving Steward Health Care Network's quality performance at point of care and organizational strategies aimed at improving the organization's Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) performance.
This year's winners were chosen from a group of 30 well-qualified candidates. In order to receive this accolade, individuals are required to have experience leading key initiatives at their organizations and demonstrate actions that led to measureable, positive industry impacts. In addition, the winners have all worked in the industry for 15 years or less, accomplished something new or unique in the industry and continued to take on more advanced roles and responsibilities in their managed care career paths.
Dr. Anne Hewitt, MHA Program Director and one of Catherine's faculty instructors says, "The MHA faculty at SHU identified Catherine as a leader of her learning team when she began the program. Congratulations to her for demonstrating both exceptional professionalism and commitment to the healthcare administration field."
