Seton Hall University

Study Abroad Faculty Learning Community

The Office of International Program (OIP) invites faculty, who are full-time employees of Seton Hall and are interested in proposing new Faculty Led Study Abroad Programs (FLPs) for Spring and Summer 2024, to enter their submissions through the online approval process. New proposals will be accepted through Monday, May 1, 2023 for new FLPs that have never run as a study abroad program or past FLPs that have not been approved through the online approval process introduced in 2021. All new proposals must be approved by the faculty's Department Chairperson, Dean and the Provost Office (in that order) to be considered as an approved Faculty Led Program. If a faculty proposes a program outside of their home department, that other Department's Chairperson and Dean (if it is outside their home School or College) must approve as well.

New FLP Submission Instructions: Click here for the instruction packet which details what to expect from the submission process.

New FLP Submission Form: Click here to access the online submission form when you are ready to submit your proposal (after reading through the above FLP Submission Instructions). The New FLP Submission Form will be open from November 1, 2022 until May 1, 2023.

Recurring FLP Form: For those FLPs that have been previously approved as a recurring program by their Department Chairperson, Dean and the Provost Office, Faculty Leaders are required to submit the Recurring FLP Form in order for their student applications to go live for the 2024 cycle. If there is a change to the FLP destination country, the Faculty Leader, or the Seton Hall University chaperone assisting the Faculty Leader, then OIP will send a form for written approval to your Chairperson, Dean and the Office of the Provost (in that order). The Recurring FLP Form will be open from December 1, 2022 until August 1, 2023 for Spring 2024 Programs and from December 1, 2022 until November 1, 2023 for Summer 2024 Programs. If your form includes a change in destination country, Faculty Leader and/or Seton Hall chaperone we encourage you to submit this form as soon as possible to allow sufficient time for university review. Student applications for submitted Recurring 2024 FLPs will begin going live as soon as April 1, 2023.

Faculty Study Abroad Workshops: To accompany this six-month submission window for new FLPs, OIP in collaboration with the Center for Faculty Development invites faculty who are interesting in proposing new programs to join the optional Study Abroad Faculty Learning Community, which will meet monthly for 6 virtual workshops from November through April on Fridays. Below is the workshop schedule and associated topics.

  • November: Study Abroad Fundamentals
  • December: Building Your Itinerary
  • January: Study Abroad Budgeting
  • February: Globalizing Your Curriculum
  • March: Web and Digital Content
  • April: Marketing and Outreach

Click here to sign up for this workshop series by November 11. The faculty's Department Chairperson will be notified of the faculty's intent to join this Learning Community so that they can start working together in developing a new Faculty Led Program.

For questions on the proposal process, kindly reach out to Douglas Cantelmo (Assistant Director of International Programs).
