Welcome and thank you for visiting the Catholic Studies Program website! We prepare students to become servant leaders through our academic programs, foster Seton Hall University's Catholic identity and mission and globally promote Catholic thought and culture through our publications and lecture series and distinguished scholars in residence program.

About Catholic Studies

Our undergraduate and study abroad programs are led by faculty who explore Catholicism's rich Intellectual Tradition and living heritage across a variety of disciplines including history, modern Catholicism, philosophy, science, theology, social service, art, music and literature. Our curriculum is custom-built according to each student's chosen specialization and career path and offers students the opportunity to major, double major, minor, double minor earn a certificate in Catholic Studies or Pastoral Music Ministry. We also offer both in-classroom and online courses.

  • Inside the Core: Scholars' Forum in CIT Restarts with Dr. Ines Murzaku
    In Inside the Core this week, we are pleased to announce the start of a new semester of our Scholars' Forum in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. Our first speaker is Dr. Ines Murzaku, Chair of Catholic Studies, Director of the Catholic Studies Program and Professor of Religion, and one of the people involved in planning and co-sponsoring this wonderful series of faculty presentations.
     
  • Charisms in the Life and Mission of the Church
    The Catholic Studies Program and the University Core, in cooperation with The Commission on Christian Unity of The Archdiocese of Newark, are proud to host "Charisms in the Life and Mission of the Church: Report of the International Pentecostal-Catholic Dialogue," presented by Dr. Cecil M. Robeck. Free and open to the public, the event will take place Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at 3:30 p.m., in the University Center Faculty Lounge. 
     
  • Fourth Annual Archbishop John J. Myers Lecture Series on Law, Society and Faith
    Catholic Studies is proud to present the fourth Annual Archbishop John J. Myers Lecture Series on Law, Society and Faith entitled "Rising from The Underground, The Ukrainian Catholic Church Reborn" by Rev. Dr. Mark M. Morozowich. The event will be held on Monday, October 16 at 3 p.m. in the Chancellor's Suite.
